Introduction
The Dalby Hang Gliding Club originated from a group of ground based towing pilots who had a desire to take advantage of the experience and benefits of an aerotow operation in this soaring Mecca. Dalby area, situated in the Wambo Shire offers unique flying for soaring enthusiasts in a location that offers accessibility to major centers including Toowoomba (40 min.), Brisbane (2.5 hours) and the world famous Gold Coast (3hrs).
In the heart of the Darling Downs, Dalby is a hub for all forms of aviation. Many Agricultural Spray operations work in the area servicing the large black soil plains agricultural industry. That is what makes this area so attractive to soaring pilots, with a local prosperous and internationally recognized Sailplane Operation in the area (DDSC). Dalby has been the home of past National Gliding competitions. The plains and surrounding areas offer excellent flat land flying, with a good road network and wonderful scenery, not to mention the XC potential. Records could be broken here.
The Town is well serviced with all and more than modern conveniences can offer and a community of genuine welcoming nature. All your needs will be met here in town. Other attractions nearby include the Oakey Army Flying Museum, Jimbour House and the historic Jondaryan Woolshed as well as a number of wineries close by. Come and enjoy!
