I love this New Year season. It provides such a great opportunity to sit back, reflect on the year that has just past and look forward to the year ahead. Let's face it; we don't get too many opportunities in life or in business to be in this place.

Now that we've entered another year, we thought it might be a good time to discuss the Annual Activity Plans that the ASN staff issued in December 2009. They were briefly discussed in the December 2009 and January 2010 conference calls, but we wanted to take the opportunity to take a closer look at these documents, and outline the way they may be of use to your organisation.
Gaining and maintaining management commitment for your safety management system
Implementing a safety management system by its self is a challenge. There is a common perception across the industry that management are not always committed to the implementation and maintenance of a safety management system. I tend to disagree.
Network News: SMS Framework Documents
A number of organisations have been working hard to finalise the development of their Safety Management System Framework document. For many, this will form the backbone of their system implementation and improvement, and also provides a means for the Boards or Councils and aprove and endorse the SMS.
