BOGONG CUP 1999

Mt Beauty, VIC. 7-16 January 1999

The Bogong cup was held in the picturesque countryside of the Victorian alpine area.
 
Overall results

Day 1: Mount Emu to Mount Beauty via Gundowring - 67kms
Barely soarable conditions saw Craig Coomber win with 29kms, closely followed by Rohan
Holtkamp and Oleg Bondarchuk.

Day 2: The Pines to Milawa via Everton, Boorhaman and Moyhu - 97kms
A classic day saw the field heading into the flatlands. Oleg won the day with a speed of 42.4km/h,
followed by Gerolf Heinrichs and Attila Bertok. 12 pilots from the field of 30 made goal.

Day 3:Mount Buffalo to Mount Beauty via Ovens, Running Creek and Gundowring North - 111kms
Another classic day with 18 pilots in goal. Oleg won again with a speed of 41km/h. Gerolf was
2nd and Attila 3rd.

Day 4: Mount Emu to Mount Beauty via Gundowring North and Kancoona South -91kms
Gerolf gambled with an early launch and bombed. Oleg won the day with a speed of 37.3km/h,
followed by Rohan and Attila. Only 5 pilots made goal.

Day 5: Mount Emu to Dederang via Gundowring North and Red Bank - 96kms
17 in goal. Oleg wins yet again with a speed of 36.9km/h. Gerolf was 2nd and Joel Rebbechi
3rd.

Day 6: Mount Buffalo to Bullioh - 73kms
No-one pushed on launch???? 15 pilots made led by Gerolf with a speed of 36.7km/h,
followed by Kraig and Joel.

Brian Rebbechi for helping on launch, Jen Rebbechi and James Freeman forassisting with
the GPS software, Monica Plohberger and Ralph for doing goal, JeanetteMcLaren for
doing most of the organising, Airborne and Moyes for hats and t-shirts, Daryl and Jan for
use of the HQ at the Bogong Hotel, Phil and Annette for the BBQs at the Mountain Creek Lodge.
